Iowa Adventure Pass Returns!

After a brief pause, the Iowa Adventure Pass is back. This program allows library cardholders age 18+ who are residents of Fort Dodge, Otho, Barnum, or rural Webster County to check out free passes to family-friendly destinations.

Whether you're planning a day at the Blank Park Zoo, touring the Science Center of Iowa, or discovering history at a local museum, the Iowa Adventure Pass makes it easy and affordable to try out a new destination.

The Iowa Adventure Pass program is a collaborative statewide initiative with 70+ participating libraries to provide their cardholders with free or discounted access to local attractions, including museums, gardens, zoos, and more. 

The Fort Dodge Public Library offers passes to:

  • Blank Park Zoo - Des Moines
  • Blue Zoo - West Des Moines
  • Des Moines Children’s Museum - West Des Moines (4 people)
  • Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens - Des Moines
  • Reiman Gardens - Ames (2 adults & 4 children from same household)
  • Science Center of Iowa - Des Moines

Passes are not valid for special events at any of the destinations.

  • Library cardholders age 18+ who are residents of Fort Dodge, Otho, Barnum, or rural Webster County may reserve a pass.
  • Your library card should be in good standing: unexpired with no overdue or lost items.
  • Adult library cardholders can only reserve one pass per destination per calendar year.
  • On the Iowa Adventure Pass homepage start by selecting Fort Dodge Public Library from the drop-down menu. Every library offers a different selection of passes, and you may only reserve a pass from FDPL.
  • You may filter the results by location and date. To see the pass offerings and availability click the Pass Options button.
  • If a pass is available click on the Get Pass button. You will be required to enter your library card and PIN (last 4 digits of your library card number).
  • A confirmation box will appear.  Please verify that your first and last names, your phone number, and email address are correct before hitting the Reserve button.  
  • A confirmation email will be sent. Please print the confirmation - this is your admission pass.
  • Bring the pass and photo ID with you on the day of your reservation. The person named on the pass must be in attendance on the day of your reservation.

Unless otherwise noted, each pass is for 2 adults and 2 children. Anyone else joining you will have to pay regular admission.

Adult cardholders can:

  • Reserve up to two destinations per day.
  • Reserve passes up to 60 days in advance.
  • Reserve one pass per destination per calendar year.
  • Passes can only be used on the date printed on your reservation.
  • Reservations can be changed (subject to availability) or cancelled prior to the day of your reservation.  
  • To make a change to your upcoming reservation or to cancel a reservation, please contact us and we will help you.
  • Your printed reservation confirmation–this is your admission pass.
  • Your photo ID. The person named on the pass must be in attendance on the day of your reservation.
  • Please double check that the destination is open on the date of your reservation, in case of unexpected closures.
